International day against drug abuse and illicit trafficking
Poribes Foundation's Collaboration with Amdanga Police for World Drug Day Awareness Program
On 26th June 2024, the Poribes Foundation had the privilege of joining hands with the Amdanga Police Station to co-organize a one-day workshop against drug usage in observance of World Drug Day. This significant event took place at Sadhanpur Uludanga Tulsiram High School premises and saw active participation from students, educators, and community members.
World Drug Day, officially known as the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, is a global observance aimed at raising awareness about the harmful effects of drug abuse and fostering efforts to combat illicit drug trafficking. This year's theme, "The evidence is clear: invest in prevention," called on communities and policymakers to adopt an evidence-based approach to prevention.
The event featured esteemed speakers, including Dr. Joydip Pandit, Consultant Neuropsychiatrist, and Mrs. Atrayee Chakrabarti, Consultant Psychologist from the Girindra Sekhar Psychiatric Research Institute, both representing the Poribes Foundation. Their insights and expertise provided valuable information on the psychological and neurological impacts of drug abuse. Their engaging presentations and interactive sessions with the students were particularly impactful, fostering a better understanding of the risks associated with drug use and the importance of making informed decisions.
Our foundation members were also present to support and participate in the event. We were deeply moved by the enthusiastic response from the students and their eagerness to learn and engage in discussions about drug prevention. The active involvement of the ASI Asif Mondal and Inspector in Charge, Shri Pintu Sarkar, was instrumental in the success of this event.Their dedication and support ensured a well-coordinated and impactful program, demonstrating a strong commitment to community welfare.
The workshop garnered significant media attention, with several outlets covering the event and highlighting the collaborative efforts of the Poribes Foundation and Amdanga Police Station. This media coverage helped amplify our message, reaching a broader audience and reinforcing the importance of drug abuse prevention.
We are grateful for the opportunity to contribute to this critical cause and extend our heartfelt thanks to the Amdanga Police Station, the speakers, the students, and all attendees for their active participation and support. Together, we have taken a meaningful step towards building a drug-free society.
As we continue our mission to promote awareness and prevention, we look forward to more such collaborative efforts in the future.
